Unlocking the Potential of Misfit Wood with Modern Digital Tools

A Bundled Pillar

The project explores potential uses and processing methods for so-called misfit wood – wood material that doesn’t fit the conventional wood products industry. The prototype, a bundled column, is crafted with a 6-axis robot with a bandsaw attached. The position of the raw material on the workbench is done with a stereoscopic depth camera, allowing to freely position elements while achieving accurate production.
